How to Edit a Trade

Edit is for corrections — wrong premium, wrong strike, typo in notes, etc. It should not be used to change a trade's lifecycle status. For that, use Roll, Assign, Expire, or Buy to Close.

Before you start

Find the trade first so you know exactly which one needs fixing.

If the trade is already closed, be careful — changing the premium or fees will change your historical P&L.

For lifecycle changes, use the dedicated action buttons instead of Edit.

1

Locate the trade

Find it in the trades table.

  • Open the Trades page from the sidebar.
  • Use filters or scroll to find the correct trade.
  • Click the trade row to open the detail dialog and verify the ticker, strike, and dates.
2

Click Edit

Opens the edit form pre-filled with the current values.

  • In the detail dialog, click Edit.
  • The trade form reopens with all current values filled in.
3

Correct the fields that are wrong

Change only what needs fixing.

  • Click into the field you want to update and replace the value.
  • Leave all correct fields untouched.
  • If correcting premium or strike, double-check the amount before saving.

Tip: Only change what's wrong. Changing fields unnecessarily can affect your P&L and reporting history.

4

Save changes

Confirm and close the form.

  • Click Save Changes.
  • The form closes and the trade row updates immediately.
  • Verify the corrected values in the table.
Good to know

Edit does not change a trade's status. If you need to mark it as expired or assigned, use those dedicated actions.

Your activity log records edits, so there is an audit trail of what was changed.
